Google is the Answer to all your Questions

Do you use Google at least once a day? When you need to know more information for something, Google is always there for you and he has the answer to all your doubts. Do you agree with me that Google has been essential to our everyday life?

Felt like having a good steamboat place today and to know where is the best? Google it!

Have you ever wondered how does Google come up with all the search results? Like what goes onto page 1 and what goes to page 2?

Search Engine Optimization (Organic / natural search) is a process of increasing the probability of a particular website from your searches. Google is the giant search engine among other available search engines like Yahoo, Baidu, and Bing taking up a massive 80% with Baidu taking the runner up position at 11%. It is safe to say that other than the Chinese market, most of the searches are done through Google.

Among the search results, websites that are on the top of the page get 42% of the traffic, second gets 11% and the third only gets 8%. This clearly emphasized the importance of appearing in the top few selections of the search results as it helps to increase the Business Authenticity in the SERP (Search Engine Results Page).

The big question is how to land onto the top few selections of the page? Google uses many tools and algorithms that are updated regularly to determine the order the websites are displayed in our SERP.

The most important is KEYWORDS. It is important to input keywords that are commonly searched by your consumers. Long-tail keywords account for 70% of all web searches because natural language search is becoming more popular and pervasive, especially now when most of the searches are done through mobile phones.

The other way to increase traffic is through Pay Per Click (PPC) where advertisers pay each time when a user clicked on it which can be commonly seen on our social media accounts where it is tagged as “Sponsored Post”.

A simple search on chairs will bring up examples of PPC but it could be costly for companies to constantly place their PPC on search engines.

I feel SEO has a greater impact as there is a 75% chance where consumers won’t read past the first page and it ensures a better brand image for consumers to click in by being at the top searches.

I would like to post a question to readers, which of these two-advertisement marketing strategies do you think is a better option for you to choose if you are their SEO Manager?

  1. Hi Nigel! What an interesting post on Googles’ SEO. I personally also love to use google as I come to research as it does provide me lots of information by using keywords. Thus, choosing keywords is important and companies should use SEO-friendly keywords for people to easily find them on Google. Is there any other tips beside using keywords to generate SEO friendly content?

  2. Hello Nigel, great read. I am one of those people who uses Google everyday. I depend on Google even for the simplest things, like how to cook the perfect hard boiled eggs! And because I just need to know how many minutes I should boil it for, it is common for me to not look past the second page results. Hence, to answer your question as to which of the 2 strategies matter, I would say it depends on the nature of a business. For the recipe I was searching for, definitely SEO, with captivating keyword like “perfect” and “easy”!

    1. Hi Valere, it might be hard to cook the hard-boiled eggs! Hahaha but yes I am also like you where I Google how to cook a perfect bowl of carbonara spagettie thinking I was Gordan Ramsey but after tasting it, it would be better to head down to eat instead. I can already imagine the title page as “The easiest way to cook the perfect hard boil eggs under 5 minutes”. Definitely agree with you on that!
